Pakistan wants peace, stability in Afghanistan, says Aizaz Chaudhry

WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry on Thursday (today) stated that Pakistan is trying its best to promote peace in the region and that its efforts would not be disrupted by the rhetoric of the Afghan leadership.

He said that Pakistan wishes to see a peaceful, stable, prosperous, and sovereign Afghanistan.

Chaudhry while participating in a discussion panel in Washington stressed that there is an opportunity for both, Pakistan and the United States to collaborate in order to achieve peace in Afghanistan.

He said mistrust between the two countries is blocking the progress in achieving the objective of peace.

“Terrorism under any pretext is not acceptable to us [Pakistan],” Chaudhry said.

The ambassador reiterated that Pakistan’s efforts to bring peace in the region would not be interrupted by the rhetoric of the Afghan leadership.
