ISLAMABAD: A five-member legal team reached The Hague on Thursday in connection to the Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav’s case in the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
As per sources, Pakistan will present the names of two former chief justices, Nasir-ul-Mulk and Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, and one ex-attorney general, Makhdoom Ali, for the ad hoc judge position from its side in the ICJ.
The ICJ will appoint one of the three suggested people as the ad hoc judge from Pakistan’s side, while from India’s side, the appointment has already been made.
The meeting will be held at around 3pm Pakistan time, where the Pakistani legal team, headed by Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf Ali, will meet ICJ President Ronny Abraham. The next date of hearing the case will also be decided at the meeting.
The hearings over Jadhav’s case were held in ICJ on May 15 and then on May 18 after India approached the court against Pakistan, accusing the country of violating the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. The move came after Pakistan handed a death sentence to Jadhav in April and denied India consular access to him
