Labourers’ children receiving free education: Minister

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour and Mineral Development Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli said here on Wednesday that children of registered labours were being imparted free of cost, quality education in the best educational institutions through the Workers Welfare Board.

She said that our first priority was to provide best possible facilities to the labour community as they play a central role in our economic development and the running of our economy.

She was speaking at a function in connection with the distribution of cheques among educational institutions imparting education to children of labour workers.

During the function, a cheque of rupees 4 million was handed over to the representative of National College of Health Sciences Peshawar under students’ scholarships which also included monthly fees and other expenses of 14 DPT students.

On this occasion Director Education Workers Board Colonel Raza Muhammad Khan, Deputy Director Scholarships Sajid Inaam and other concerned officials were present too.

Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli further said that our mission was to provide best contemporary education to the children of labour community so they can achieve a prominent status in society. To achieve this goal education was being imparted in medicine, engineering, management sciences and other fields nationwide. This provision of scholarships will continue in future, she said.
