LAHORE – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Executive Committee Chairman Najam Sethi on Monday said that effective immediately the PCB will be renamed Pakistan Super League (PSL). Sethi who also moonlights as a journalist explained that after the crushing 124-run defeat against India in the Champions Trophy contest at Edgbaston yesterday, something has to be done.
“I think it makes perfect sense to rename the board to bring about much needed reform and what better name than PSL, the best thing to come out of Pakistan Cricket in the last 10 years, thanks to me” explained a beaming Sethi.
Chairman PCB Shahryar Khan answering a question about whether he supported the decision or not said nonchalantly “yeah whatever, I’m out of this place in a month or so as it is so, but what you should really take away from this conversation is that Misbah is a better captain than Imran Khan.”
Acknowledging that the move is quite unorthodox, Anwar Sohail, a PCB official who is heading the transition team said that we have been closely examining Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar’s Ramzan transmission on GEO and literally after the first episode reached the conclusion that pretty much anything would fly now.
“So the idea of changing the name of the board with Sethi Saab already working at GEO, where he does an epic job every nigh might I add, was a no brainer” said Sohail with a confused look on his face.
Justifying his decision further Sethi said “such subtle changes go a long way. Did you not see the wonders a simple uniform change did for the Punjab Police? Shahbaz Sharif is a brilliant CM, of course I was better at it, but he is pretty awesome too”.
I have a better idea: rename it KHABARNAK.
