Interior ministry has nothing to do with leaked picture, clarifies interior ministry

According to a spokesperson of the Interior Ministry, the ministry has rejected ‘a particular party’s’ claim that the ministry is behind the leaked JIT picture of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz.

A picture of the prime minister’s son was leaked yesterday in which he waiting inside an interrogation room in what seems to be the headquarters of the Panama case Joint Investigation Team (JIT). The picture went viral within hours of its leakage.

In a statement, the spokesperson said the capital police — which fall under the ministry — are only responsible to providing security outside the Federal Judicial Academy, declared the JIT headquarters.

The spokesperson clarified that the neither the police nor the ministry has any internal involvement inside the academy.

He added that no department of the ministry is connected with any JIT member, not with its workings and recording of CCTV footage.

To play politics on such sensitive issues is uncalled for, the spokesperson stressed.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Fawad Chaudhry on Monday alleged Hussain Nawaz’s picture was leaked by the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and the Intelligence Bureau (IB).

A picture of Hussain Nawaz waiting before a session with the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in the Federal Judicial Academy in Islamabad went viral on social media, raising questions as to who would have leaked the photo.
