HYDERABAD: The Sindhi Association of North America (SANA) has agreed to set up a ‘Centre for Community Development’ at the University of Sindh, in a bid to ameliorate the lives of the people in society especially those living in Jamshoro.
The decision to this effect has been made in a meeting held between University of Sindh Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat and a delegation of SANA on Friday evening, the university spokesman informed on Saturday.
SANA Vice President Mohiuddin Memon, SSDP Programme Coordinator Hussain Leghari, Programme Assistant Paras Rustmani, University of Sindh Registrar Muhammad Saleem Chandio, Dr Akhtar Mughal among others were also present at the meeting.
Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat, while accepting the proposal of setting up a business idea centre at the university, said that there was a dire need to establish the centre for community development through which the lives of people, living surrounding the three major universities including Sindh, Mehran and Liaquat Universities, could be fine-tuned.
“For constructing a better society, we need to change its condition through standardised education and quality research; If Chicago is famous due to its university, If London is an educated city because of the Oxford University, why can’t Jamshoro be an advanced city in spite of presence of three mega varsities?”, he inquired.
The vice chancellor, on the occasion, constituted three different committees for the purpose.
