JIT summons Ishaq Dar for inquiry of affidavit

ISLAMABAD: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) investigating offshore wealth of Sharif family has summoned Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for inquiry of his affidavit, according to reports.

The decision was taken in the meeting which is being chaired by Wajid Zia.

The minister needs to appear before the investigation within two days.

Hussain Nawaz has appeared before the JIT once again and Hassan Nawaz recorded his statements to the investigation team on Friday.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz appeared before Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for fourth time today (Saturday).

The premier’s son was quizzed by the probe committee headed by senior official of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Wajid Zia for some seven hours whereas he also presented key documents to defend the corruption allegations against his family.

The latest development come after Nehal Hashmi, a senator from the ruling party, apparently threatened judges for seeking details of bank accounts from Sharif s family. PM sacked Hashmi, but tension between his government and judiciary persist.

Nawaz Sharif has been under pressure to resign since reports based on documents leaked from a Panama-based law firm indicated his sons owned offshore companies.
