LAHORE: The Teachers’ Unions of Pakistan have condemned the use of corporal punishment and practice of inflicting bodily harm to students.

They’ve released a statement expressing sorrow over the unfortunate incident that happened at City District Government Girls’ High School Kot Shahab Din in Shahdra where two teachers allegedly pushed a 14 year old girl down from the third floor of a school building.

The statement put forward by the union said teachers are like honorary parents for students and inflicting bodily harm doesn’t serve any purpose.

The statement said, “As representatives of teachers across Pakistan, we strongly condemn the use of corporal punishment and the practice of inflicting bodily harm to any student. We wish Fajr Noor, our daughter and the future of our country, a speedy and full recovery.”

The teachers’ union also requested the relevant authorities to conduct a through investigation so that the responsible people could be brought to justice.
