NSC discusses situation on eastern, western borders

The National Security Committee, which met under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, deliberated upon overall internal and external security situation, besides discussing situation on the eastern and western borders.

The committee expressed satisfaction over the sustained gains achieved from anti-terrorism operations, particularly the Raddul Fasaad operation, while security for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects also came under discussion.

The meeting expressed serious concern over the atrocities by Indian forces against Kashmiri people and resolved to continue its moral and diplomatic support to the people of the disputed state. It was decided to fighting the case of Indian agent Kulbhushan Jadhav forcefully at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague.

The case of the Indian agent, whose execution was stayed by the International Court of Justice; Islamic summit at Riyadh city of Saudi Arabia and other national security matters came under the high-level civil-military meeting.

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, National Security Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, ISI Director General Naveed Mukhtar and others attended the meeting.

The meeting briefed about implementation on the National Action Plan against terrorism and ongoing Raddul Fasaad security operation. The meeting decided that the security operation would continue till complete elimination of terrorism and extremism from the country.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman and FWO Director General Lt General Muhammad Afzal also attended the meeting. Earlier, General Qamar Bajwa called on the prime minister and discussed matters pertaining to operational preparedness of the Pakistan Army.
