Sindh govt approves increase in nurses’ allowance

KARACHI: The Sindh government has approved a raise in allowances of uniform, mess and nursing per month for nurses in the government hospitals.

According to a notification, with the approval of the Sindh chief minister, Finance Department has agreed to allow enhancement in uniform, mess and nursing allowances of nursing category BS-16 and BS-17 to bring them at par with those in sister provinces as well as in consonance with the demand of the Young Nurses Association (YNA) and Provincial Nurses Association (PNA), Health Department with an immediate effect.

In nursing category BS-16, uniform allowance has been enhanced from Rs600 to Rs3, 100, mess allowance from Rs300 to Rs8, 000 and nursing allowance from Rs6,000 to Rs10,000. Similarly, nursing category BS-17 uniform allowance has been increased from Rs600 to Rs2,100, mess allowance from Rs300 to Rs6,500 and nursing allowance from Rs4,000 to Rs10,000.

The YNA and PNA thanked Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Health Minister Dr Sikandar Mandhro and Health Secretary Dr Fazlullah Pechuho for raising the allowances.

They assured that they would work for the betterment of the healthcare delivery system and provision of medical cover to the patients with dedication.
