LAHORE: Government has taken a number of solid steps for women empowerment with a view to bring them into the national mainstream, this was said by Punjab Minister for Women Development Department Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din at the inauguration ceremony of a daycare centre in the Township area of Lahore.
Women Development Secretary Bushra Aman, Population Welfare Director General Naeem Rathore, Dr Asma and others were also present on this occasion. The Punjab minister also said that the government is setting up daycare centres all over the province under a phased programme.
These daycare centres will be managed by the Punjab Daycare Fund Society which has been formed specially for the purpose. According to her 88 daycare centres have so far been established by the govt with many more in the pipeline.
The provincial minister also distributed certificates among 350 female domestic workers who completed their training.
“Pakistani women are very talented and they have proved their abilities in different sectors”, added the minister while speaking on this occasion.
She said that jobs quota in government sector for women has been increased from 5 to 15 percent and that working women hostels are being set up all over the country to facilitate working women.
She also said that the work quality of female domestic workers will improve after getting the training.
