MULTAN: The fire which broke out in Basheer oil mills at Vehari road late Tuesday afternoon, has been brought under control after nine hours.

As many as 24 fire trucks were used in the operation to control the blaze. As a result of the fire, four nearby shops and two houses were damaged. The electricity supply in the area had also been suspended by Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO).
The fire affected three MEPCO feeders, according to power utility’s spokesperson. He added that restoration of feeders is under way. The cause of the fire is likely to be overheating of the factory’s generator.

According to rescue officials, there were about 50,000 gallons of Mobil oil in the factory’s basement.
