  • JIT deliberately ‘leaked’ summon notice in media

Hussain Nawaz, son of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, will appear before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on Tuesday (today) at 11pm at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA).

In contradiction to Hussain’s statement, given to journalists on Sunday that he was given 24 hours to present himself and was not told to bring the relevant record, the JIT on Monday has deliberately ‘leaked’ summon notice in order to prove Hussain’s assertion wrong.

According to the summon, Hussain was called to present himself before the JIT along with the related record regarding the purchase of London flats on May 19, in pursuance of the order of the Supreme Court, however, he didn’t appeared. On May 25, Hussain was summoned again to record his statement along with the documents on May 28.

“Today [Sunday], you appeared before JIT without any record and also refused to answer any of the questions on the pretext that the matter is sub-judice as you filed a petition before the apex court,” reads JIT summon issued on May 28.

“Despite paucity of time and your non-cooperation during the proceedings, yet in the interest of justice, you are hereby – once again – called upon to appear before JIT on Tuesday [today] at 1100 hours at the Federal Judicial Academy along with all relevant record/documents/material for recording of statement/examination as specified in the previous summon,” the summon states.

“You [Hussain] are advised that failure to comply with this summon may entail penal consequences as per relevant laws,” according to the notice. In its April 20 judgment, the court had declared that the prime minister and his family failed to justify how they accumulated their offshore assets.

Hence, the five-judge bench ordered the formation of a JIT to settle the saga that started with the Mossack Fonseka leaks just over a year ago.

  1. This lookalike of Rana Sana is getting too agitated which might not be good for the accused Sharifs.
