A meeting was held here today under the chair of the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The meeting reviewed, in detail, the performance of the Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) and its future strategy.
The chief minister gave approval of making record of ownership deeds (fard-e-malkiat) available online through the official website. The attendees of the meeting decided to put end the role of patwari in revenue matters. They also decided to launch a mobile service for the provision of ownership deeds and other revenue related documents to the people. Due to the launch of mobile service facility, the citizens will get their revenue related documents at their doorsteps.
While addressing the meeting, the chief minister stated that the ownership deeds can also be collected from the branches of Bank of the Punjab in the future; and added that the PLRA and Punjab Bank will enter into an agreement at the start of the next month, in this regard. Under this agreement, the counters of arazi centre will be set up at different branches of the Punjab Bank. He hoped that this facility would extend the scope of services to the people who would further be facilitated in getting the documents of their properties.
He said that the Punjab government has taken a revolutionary step by computerising the revenue record of the rural population.
The chief minister made it clear that there is no room for any corrupt official in the Land Record Management Information System. Action has been taken, he added, against the officials involved in corruption, and strict action has been taken against the persons indulged in corruption.
He said that he is confident that the PLRA will maintain this program of public interest, in an efficient manner.
The chief minister said that the PLRA should hire the best staff, on merit, for the enhanced efficiency.
The information regarding property would be provided at the official website of Land Record Management Information System and the people would be able to access their property records through the latest system, online. He said that the computerisation of the land record is a historic initiative of the Punjab government which would put an end to the archaic patwari culture, forever. He said that role of the patwari mafia in any shape is unacceptable. The role of the patwari, he added, with regard to revenue matters will be eliminated.
The chief minister directed the concerned individuals to constitute a committee to finalise the steps for future course of action of the PLRA.
DG PLRA gave a presentation on the working and performance of the organisation. Provincial ministers Rana Sanaullah, Bilal Yasin, Jehangir Khanzada, Chief Secretary, Advisor Dr Umer Saif, Chairman Punjab Land Record Authority Rana Babar Hussain MPA, members of the provincial assembly, Chairman P&D, Senior Member Board of Revenue and concerned officials attended the meeting.
