Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that provision of essential items, fruits and vegetables to the people on fixed rates during Ramzan will be ensured at every cost. He further said that effective steps would continue to ensure stability in prices of essential items in Ramzan Bazaars as well as in other marketplaces.
While issuing directions to the Provincial Cabinet Committee on Price Control, the chief minister said that it was the responsibility of concerned departments and the administration to ensure prompt supply of essential items in Ramzan Bazaars and other markets on fixed rates. Therefore, concerned departments and the administration should proactively work to provide genuine relief to the people. While directing to ensure supply of quality essential items, fruits and vegetables on fixed rates in ordinary marketplaces and bazaars, the Chief Minister said that stability in the prices of essential items, their quality and prompt supply should be ensured at every cost in Ramzan Bazaars as well as in ordinary markets; and added that vigorous crackdown should be conducted against illegal profiteers.
Issuing directions for indiscrimination action against the elements selling essential items, fruits and vegetables on exorbitant rates, the chief minister said that the interest of the people was very dear to him. He observed that the elements looting the people in the name of profit do not deserve any leniency. He further said that he will not allow the cabal of illegal profiteers and hoarders to exploit the people and added that increase in the prices of essential items, fruits and vegetables will not be allowed at any cost. He said that Punjab government for the first time in the history has given historic Ramzan Package worth Rs 9 billion to provide relief to the people.
A subsidy of Rs 8.78 billion has been given for the provision of subsidized flour, he added. Every penny of Ramzan Package should benefit the people and public representatives, administration as well as price control committees should continue to play their effective role so that the people could fully benefit from the historic Ramzan Package, concluded the chief minister.
CM MEETS PARLIAMENTARIANS FROM SAHIWAL: Members of the Assembly belonging to Sahiwal Division, during their meeting with Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, congratulated him on the completion of Sahiwal Coal Power Project in a record period of time and said that completion of this project, in a period of 22 months, is a result of leadership of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif. They added that Shehbaz Sharif has proved the title of Khadim-e-Punjab by serving the people day and night. They termed the Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Program as a wonderful initiative of the Punjab government under which thousands of kilometer long rural roads have been constructed or redone to provide tremendous relief to the rural population, including the farmers. They further said that best arrangements have been made during the wheat procurement campaign and the reward of hard work of the farmers has been ensured. The farmers were satisfied over the arrangements during the procurement campaign and prayed for the farmer friendly Shehbaz Sharif for doing the wonderful arrangements.
