Crackdown of Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continues against those supplying gutka under the Gutka-Free Punjab Mission.
DG Punjab Food Authority Noor ul Amin Mengal took action against a big warehouse of gutka in a hotel near a Railway station and recovered Rs 2hundred thousand and 12 thousand packets of gutka. According to details, DG PFA along with his team, conducted raids at Boleda Hotel Railway Station and recovered gutka that had been smuggled to Punjab. The warehouse where gutka was stored and made was in underground precincts of the hotel.
A case has been registered against the owner of the warehouse and the hotel owner while orders have been issued for immediate disposal of the entire gutka recovered.
According to DG PFA, there is a ban on sale of gutka in Punjab as it is the main cause of cancer and other fatal diseases. Action, he added, will also being taken against those who make gutka. He said that no leniency will be extended to the persons involved in this trade.
Punjab Food Authority imposed a fine of Rs 25 thousand to Butt Sweets Nadeem Shaheed Road, Rs 25 thousand to Haji Usman Hotel near Sundar on Multan Road, Rs. 12 thousand to New Waris Khan Hotel and Rs eight thousand to Baba Haji Hotel on charges of poor cleanliness and usage of unhygienic items.
