PTI MNA, MPA arrested for alleged ransacking of PESCO Office in Malakand

Malakand Deputy Commissioner Zafar Ali Khan has confirmed the arrest of MNA Junaid Akbar Khan and Adviser to the KP Chief Minister Shakeel Khan for alleged ransacking of the PESCO Office, situated in Batkhala area of district Malakand.

DC Zafar Ali Khan said that the situation was now under control and the mob led by two parliamentarians allegedly attack PESCO Office. He also confirmed registration of FIR against two PTI parliamentarians MNA Junaid Akbar Khan and MPA Shakeel Khan.

He said the PTI leaders were leading protesters, who ransacked the PESCO office and torched office furniture and records during the protest against load-shedding.

The Levies personnel took the PTI leaders into custody for ransacking the PESCO office, he informed. Giving detail, he said that a mob led by Shakeel Khan barged into the PESCO office in Batkhela area of Malakand.

The protesters torched furniture and office record, he informed. He said now the situation was fully under control. He said no one would be allowed to take law into his hands. He said there was another mob of Pakistan People’s Party as well but extra Levies were called who ensured protection of government buildings and properties.

When contacted, PESCO spokesperson Shoukat Afzal confirmed that three of the grid stations Rehman Baba, Kohat Industrials area and University Town have been attacked by two PTI MPAs Fazal Elahi and Arif Yousaf along with a strong mob of PTI workers last night and they were still there.

He said the PTI workers led by Fazal Elahi entred into the Hazar Khwani grid station and a large number of PTI workers gathered outside the grid station for staging protest demonstration.

‘I don’t know where we can lodge our complaint as the PTI government is backing all these mobs who attack the grid stations’, he informed. ‘We have made a request to the police for FIR against the two but so far no FIR has been registered. The police personnel were also called but of no vain’, he added.

‘We want to avoid any untoward incident’, he said, adding, ‘We are helpless’. He alleged that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government was behind the attack that was carried on the Rehman Baba grid station by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Fazal Elahi and his followers.

He also accused provincial lawmaker Fazal Elahi of provoking workers. The PTI MPA could not still be arrested after the attack, and police were also doing nothing in the matter.

When contact, MPA Arif Yousaf, who is also Adviser to the Chief Minister on Law and Parliamentary Affairs confirmed that they have got full control over the three grid stations comprising Rehman Baba, Kohat Road and University Town.

He said now he was sitting in the Masjid of Kohat Industrial State Grid Station on Kohat Road and would do his first Iftari there.

He also confirmed that negotiations were continued with PESCO Officials to streamline the duration of the load shedding otherwise they would not let them to get control of the grid stations. We will be sitting till smoother down the long duration of load shedding, MPA Arif Yousaf added.

‘We got elected from the people’s vote and we are answerable to them and if they were in pain certainly we will be’, Arif Yousaf said.
