BADIN: Water shortage, unemployment and clean drinking water remain major issues of the Badin residents.
This was stated by different speakers at the public assembly, organised by the Indus Consortium and Laar Humanitarian Development Programme (LHDP) Badin, the other day in Kadhan town.
People from all walks of life, including women, children, representatives of different organisations and associations, local journalists and elected counsellors along with the union council chairmen and vice chairmen hailing from the union council Kadhan, Mitha Khan, Seerani and others were present at the occasion.
Addressing the participants of the event, speakers, including Badin Press Club President Tanveer Ahmed Arain, Iqbal Hyder, Muhammad Ramzan Jat, Khan Muhammad Brohi, Sono Mal, Muhammad Yousif Mallah, Amina Mallah, Nathi Mallah and others deplored that due to a lack of government’s and local elected representatives’ attention the agri-situation is being worsen day by day.
They maintained that due to the usage of an unclean and contaminated drinking water, the rate of water borne-diseases has increased 70per cent.
They added that people of Badin are facing the unjustified water distribution and lack of de-silting of different water canals of the district.
At the end of the event, the charter of demand (CoD) was also presented which was granted by the participants.
