CPWB takes 50 child beggars into custody in anti-begging campaign

Lahore: Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) in an anti-begging campaign, has taken 50 child beggars into custody.

This campaign has begun on the instructions of the Chairperson Saba Sadiq, according to a CPWB spokesperson.

Different teams of CPWB raided various localities including Shaukat Khanum Chowk, Campus Bridge, Barkat Market, Moon Market, Kareem Block Market, Gulberg, Defence Morh, Y-Block, H-Block, MM Alam Road, Johar Town, Mini Market, Liberty Market, Defence Morh, Mall Road, Model Town and Johar Town.

Around 43 boys and seven girls between five to 14 years of age were taken into custody as they were found begging on the streets.

These children have now been transferred to the child protection institute and their parents are being located.

This operation will be carried on until child beggary is taken care of completely.
