A whopping Rs242500.938mn allocated for PM’s Special Programmes for FY 2017-18

The federal government has earmarked a whopping amount of Rs242500.938 million for ten projects named as Prime Minister’s Special Programmes for the financial year 2017-18.

The allocation reflects that the federal government aims at pumping an ambitious Rs243 billion in the development and security related projects in the upcoming financial year in the wake of next general elections.

The huge agenda includes investments in energy, youth loans, gas provision and clean drinking water sectors—all related to the general public which has been ignored in previous budgets.

According to the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), the government has allocated Rs7,500 million for Earthquake Reconstruction & Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA), Rs30000 million have been allocated for Prime Minister’s Global SGDs Achievement Programmes, while Rs40,000 million have been earmarked for Special Federal Development Programme, Rs 12,500 million have been kept for Energy for All, and Rs12,500 million has been dedicated to Clean Drinking Water for All projects.

A whopping amount of Rs45,000 million has been allocated for the relief and rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs), while another Rs45,000 million have been kept for security enhancement project.

Moreover, Rs20,000 have been allocated for Prime Minister’s Youth Initiative, while another Rs25,000 million have been earmarked for gas infrastructure development cess. Another Rs5000 million have been allocated for special provision for completion of CPEC projects.
