Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy to replace Muhammad Moonis as Consul General of Norway in Karachi

KARACHI: Pakistan’s first Oscar-winning documentary maker Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has been appointed Consul General of Norway in Karachi.

As per reports, she will be taking over the position from Muhammad Moonis who will be retiring from the post after 38 years as the consul general of Norway in Karachi.

The handover took place at a reception at her residence in Karachi.Norway’s Ambassador to Pakistan Tore Nebredo thanked Mr. Moonis for his services for the country.

Welcoming her appointment, he added that Chinoy embodies ideals that Norway wholeheartedly supports, both through the causes she champions and as a successful, independent-minded and vocal Pakistani woman.

Chinoy stated it was an honour for her take up her new role and is looking forward to building stronger ties between the two countries by encouraging collaboration in clean energy, technology and other related businesses.
