ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has issued a notice to journalist Taha Siddiqui, whereby he has to appear before its counterterrorism wing.

The notice directs the journalist “to appear before the [FIA inspector] at police station FIA counterterrorism wing” on May 26. It also adds that non-compliance with the notice is punishable under Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Recently, the Islamabad High Court had restrained the FIA from harassing the journalist and issued notices to two FIA officers, including its director general.

According to a petition filed by the journalist, FIA deputy director Noman Bodla called him on May 18, asking him to appear at the FIA headquarters for interrogation.

When asked about being summoned to the headquarters, he was informed that it related to issues and opinion on which he had written pieces.
