1kg heroin recovered from passenger on Abu Dhabi-bound flight

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) recovered one kilogramme of heroin from a passenger at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport, officials said Friday (today).

ANF officials informed that passenger, Irfan Masih, was to board an Airblue flight destined for  Abu Dhabi on Thursday night when the drug was recovered from his handbag during checking at the immigration counter. Masih, a resident of  Nankana Sahib, claimed that he had no knowledge of the presence of heroin in his bag.

The suspect was arrested and shifted to ANF headquarters. A First Information Report (FIR) was later lodged against him under Section 9-C of the Control of Narcotics Substance Act. As per officials, the accused will be presented before a local magistrate on Saturday to seek his physical remand to hold an inquiry into where he was travelling to with the drugs.
