LAHORE: Pakistan Railways (PR) workers the other day protested against what they said were anti-worker policies of the government. They also criticised the privatisation of trains.

The protesting railway workers also demanded 100 percent increase in their salaries in the wake of soaring inflation.

The workers carrying placards and banners asking for their demands to be fulfilled, protested in front of the Railway workshop in Lahore.  Addressing the demonstration, Railways Worker Union President Sakhi Khan demanded the government announce a service structure for Railways workers, besides increasing their pay by 100 percent.

He also demanded 60 percent job quota be allocated to the children of retired employees and those who died during service.

The trade union leader pleaded the government to do away with the contractual system in PR.
