Police kill suspected terrorist in alleged police encounter


KOHAT: Police killed a suspected terrorist in an alleged police encounter on Samari Road, Kohat in the early hours of Thursday, according to reports.

According to the police, the operation was conducted upon receiving a tip-off.

The suspected terrorists initiated the attack by throwing hand grenades at the police. In retaliatory fire, one of the terrorists, Inamullah, was killed. A police official was also injured in the crossfire.

Inamullah was allegedly involved in the attack on a police van on May 20.

Four policemen, including a station house officer, were killed in the attack.

According to police, Lachi SHO Khanullah had led a police team to Kamal Khel for the arrest of wanted criminals. The police team, in four vehicles, was returning whey they came under attack by terrorists in Mohsin Khel.

As a consequence, Khanullah, Additional SHO Tahir Mahmood and constables Abid and Tanvir Ali were killed on the spot.
