In wake of the severe shortage of drinking water at the port city of Gwadar, the Pakistan Navy dispatched its fleet tanker, PNS NASR, carrying 1200 tons of fresh/drinking water for the local population.
The step was taken due to the prevalent scarcity of water in Balochistan in the backdrop of scanty water resources and marginal rains which are badly affecting the common public to such a level that the situation needs to be addressed.
“Being aware of the situation, the Pakistan Navy utilising its resources promptly dispatched its fleet tanker to Gwadar with fresh/drinking water. The ship reached at Gwadar port and distribution of water to area residents has been made in coordination with the local district administration,” an official statement said.
The fresh water supply by the Pakistan Navy is paying the dividends and the situation in Gwadar city has improved. West Commander Commodore Ovais Hyder Zaidi is presently supervising the relief efforts on behalf of the Pakistan Navy. The Pakistan Navy, having its operational bases and adequate presence at coastal belt, is actively pursuing development projects especially at Gwadar and Ormara.
The statement said that the Pakistan Navy would continue to provide all out assistance through its relief and rehabilitation support, whether it be an earthquake, flood or any natural calamity to ease out miseries of the populace.
