MARDAN: Garden campus of Mardan’s Abdul Wali Khan University that had been closed following Mashal Khan’s murder has been reopened Thursday (today).The educational activities on campus have been resumed after 42 days and strict security measures are being ensured inside and outside the campus.
University administration has also banned all political activities inside the institution. Moreover, security officers arrested two students and recovered weapons from their possession.Earlier on May 22, five campuses of Mardan’s Abdul Wali Khan University including Main Campus, Chitral Campus, Buner Campus, Timergara Campus and Pabbi Campus reopened.
Mashal Khan was lynched by a mob of students on April 13 for alleged blasphemy, and administration had closed the university after the tragic incident.More than 50 people suspected to be part of the mob were arrested by the security forces, who will be presented before the counter-terrorism court.
