Pakistani counsel dismisses Indian media’s claims of charging “exorbitant fee”

Lahore: Pakistan’s counsel at International Court of Justice (ICJ) Khawar Qureshi dismissed claims by Indian media that he had charged “exorbitant” fee to fight Pakistan’s stance at the Hague with regard to Kulbushan Jadhav’s case.

In a statement, he said that he had reduced his fee by 30 percent. He had paid for his assistants from his own account, he further added.

“My fee does not even make 10pc of the amount that Indian media is suggesting,” said Mr Qureshi.

Mr Qureshi added that he had cancelled his commitments with another country and had arrived in Pakistan on an emergency basis to take up the case against India. Mr Qureshi also rejected spurious claims of victory by Indian media.

“The order issued by the ICJ is just a procedural order to enable full hearing. It certainly is not a victory for India by any means,” maintained Qureshi.

Qureshi narrated that India was misleading international court whereas Pakistan was arguing on basis of evidence and merit.

Since ICJ’s decision in Jadhav’s case, Indian media has initiated a malicious defamation campaign against Pakistan’s counsel stating that he has charged mammoth £5 lac from Pakistan and has lost the case intentionally.
