- Senate resolution says cowardly incidents couldn’t shake determination, commitment against terrorism
The Senate on Monday strongly condemned an attack on the convoy of Deputy Chairman Abdul Ghafoor Haideri in Mastung and resolved that such cruel and cowardly incidents could not shake the determination and commitment of the nation against the terrorism.
In this regard, the House passed a resolution unanimously expressing deep sorrow and grief over the killing of more than 25 persons in the May 12 attack. The resolution, moved by Talha Mehmood in the House, reads the Senate expresses its deep sorrow and grief over the sad incident and shows solidarity with the families of the victims and prays for the early recovery of the deputy chairman and other injured.
“The Senate resolves that such cruel/cowardly incidents of terrorism cannot shake the determination and commitment of this nation against the terrorism.” The House expressed its profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Muhammad Iftikhar Mughal, the director staff of the Senate Secretariat, who embraced martyrdom in a suicide bombing on the convoy of the deputy chairman in Mastung.
The condolence resolution was moved by House Leader Raja Zafarul Haq in the Senate. “Senate and its secretariat express heartfelt grief over the loss of an officer and colleague who has become a direct victim of the terrorism which has claimed so many precious lives of innocent Pakistanis,” according to the resolution.
Before joining the Senate Secretariat, the late officer worked in the Social Welfare and Special Education Division in Islamabad. He rendered exemplary official services during his career in the secretariat, which is spread over a period of almost 20 years. His superiors and colleagues remember him as a humble, cooperative and competent officer,” it said.
The services rendered by the late Iftikhar Mughal would be long remembered and his loss would be deeply mourned, it said. “We all share the loss sustained by his family and friends. This House expresses its deepest sympathies with the bereaved family. We pray to Almighty Allah to shower His infinite blessings upon the departed soul and may his soul rest in eternal peace,” it said.
