PIA spokesman denies reports of crew detained at Heathrow Airport

ISLAMABAD: The spokesman for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has denied reports that the national flag carrier’s crew members were detained at Heathrow Airport, London.

The spokesman stated that PIA’s flight PK-785 arrived London from Islamabad on Sunday. The plane was searched at Heathrow Airport for security reasons, further adding that the crew members were not detained, instead they were stopped momentarily while the flight was being searched.

PIA’s London manager has been directed to apprise over the situation occurred at the airport, the spokesman added.

Earlier, it was reported that 13 crew members of PIA were detained at the Heathrow Airport over security threats on Tuesday (today) for interrogation purposes. However, the crew was later released since nothing was found during the search of the crew and plane during an investigation at the Heathrow Airport, according to PIA sources.

  1. PIA crew has bad reputions the world over, money laundering and carrying banned items, it is pointless to single out PIA’s bad deeds, PIA is just one of many example of Pakistan’s culture, mindset and society.

  2. Conflicting reports are coming on TV. We should not condemn PIA and should wait for the official response from UK authorities.
