An Indian journalist has claimed business tycoon Sajjan Jindal had been invited by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to visit Pakistan. He added that Jindal was not sent by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking to a private Pakistani news channel, journalist Prem Shankar Jha said, “Jindal visited Pakistan on Nawaz Sharif’s invitation as he wasn’t sent by PM Modi’s advice.”
Jha went on to criticise the Indian government’s stance on Kashmir, highlighting the importance of dialogue between the two countries in order for a peaceful resolution of the problem to be reached.
“The Modi government is fast losing out all options. The situation [in Kashmir] is so grim that I don’t see any option of dialogue is left. I think that India doesn’t want to move towards dialogue.” He further added that the state of affairs in Kashmir is shameful.
Recently, an Indian delegation led by Sajjan Jindal who is a close friend of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Nawaz Sharif at his private residence in Murree. Jindal, a common friend of Nawaz Sharif (as confirmed by prime minister’s daughter Maryam Nawaz on her Twitter account) and India’s Modi is thought to occasionally act as a facilitator in some meetings between the two premiers during the past three years.
