Lahore: Excise and Taxation (E&T) Punjab are upgrading their token tax system to facilitate car owners to submit their respective token taxes online from anywhere in Punjab.
The system has been designed to prevent losses and fake tax submissions via Post offices.
Previously fake slips of post offices were submitted and the system lacked any verification methods. Thus token taxes were fraudulently filed by showing previous fake token slips.
The Excise department due to lack of verification processes was facing huge losses.
The new system entails that token tax filers will be provided with pro forma and legal affidavit which would then be verified by excise officials in correspondence with post offices.
However, is should be brought to attention that, during the tenure of former Director General Excise Naseem Sadiq a similar system of computerisation was initiated but for unknown reasons, the system was back-rolled and the data removed.
The system will permanently put an end to the losses faced by the excise department.
It will also facilitate the public by providing easy access online from anywhere in Punjab. Previously, vehicle owners had to submit token tax in the post office of their respective cities but with the upgradations underway this problem would be let away with.
Talking to a private news outlet, E&T Director General Akram Ashraf Gondal said up-gradation process will facilitate the motorists in all manners and they would be no more bound to pay the token tax only in their post offices concerned. Besides, the loss of revenue in shape of fake token tax slips of the post office will be stopped permanently, Akram Ashraf added.
He said that in the next phase our plan is to establish a joint computerisation database system which would be synchronised with all the post offices of Punjab and then excise officers will verify the post tax online and motorists will not have to wait for two days for verification.
I read this paragraph completely on the topic of the difference of newest and previous technologies, it’s
remarkable article.
