Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated a computer lab in the Pakistan Embassy College in Beijing, today.

After the inauguration of the lab, the chief minister addressed the students and faculty members and said that all of the computers of Pakistan Embassy College have been provided by the Punjab government as it believes that this is the age of IT and Pakistanis across the world must be proficient in it. “You should best utilize these computers, and I am hopeful that you will benefit from the latest trends of knowledge through these computers”, the CM said.

The chief minister said that One Belt, One Road (OBOR) is a joint leap towards making the world a global village; and added that the Chinese President Xi Jinping has launched a unique programme that is imperative for world peace. This programme, the CM added, is not intended to establish supremacy of any particular country, but is a collective effort for achieving global prosperity. He said that this programme is a commitment of the Chinese premier to lift the underdeveloped nations and carry them in their arduous journey towards development.

While taking a dig at his opponents he said that the facts proved those elements in the opposition wrong that were spreading rumors in regards to the CPEC that it was only a project for one province. CPEC is a project of Sindh, KP, Balochistan, Punjab, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, he added.

He said that the chief ministers of all four provinces have given a collective message to the people of Pakistan, by attending the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing together, of unity and harmony among all provinces. There may be political differences between the parties, he added, but these differences have been set aside for the development and prosperity of the country.

The CM said that CPEC is the property of the people of Pakistan; and it is being protected by the people of Pakistan. He said that the CPEC agreements were signed in April 2015; and today, many of the projects have already been completed. Many others, he added, are near completion. He said that the pace at which the projects have been completed is unprecedented in Pakistan’s history.

The CM added that the Pakistanis could not possibly forget what China has done for their nation over the years.

He asked the students, present at the campus, to work hard as the Punjab government is spending its precious resources on their studies. “You should work hard for a better life. Punjab government has sent you to learn Chinese language; therefore, you should learn it with passion and seriousness”.
