Tolerant Pakistan Media Network to be launched, create harmony

A ceremony to launch first of its kind journalistic forum, Tolerant Pakistan Media Network, would be held on Tuesday (16th May) from 3pm to 6pm at Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) Auditorium, Islamabad.

Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Mohammad Yousaf and State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb were invited to grace the ceremony as special guests, stated a press release issued on Sunday.

The motive behind this initiative was to encourage journalists so that they proactively foster better understanding, tolerance, and mutual respect within Pakistani society and with the foreign world, said Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, who is the founding patron of the Tolerant Pakistan Media Network.

Dr Ramesh Vankwani, who is also a prominent parliamentarian and columnist, said that media plays pivotal role to create harmony in any society. Whatever is shown on TV screens or published in newspapers, it has a greater impact on the minds of people watching or reading the news, he said, adding that media should play its due role to envision a Pakistani society free of religious, racial, or ethnic violence and oppression. He said, “Ensuring a democratic peace loving role model society is my dream where all citizens coexist peacefully and celebrate the diversity of society, according to the Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s speech on August 11, 1947”.

EU ambassador, chairman HEC, along with a number of prominent parliamentarians, journalists, diplomats and civil society representatives would also speak on the occasion of launching ceremony of Tolerant Pakistan Media Network which aims to empower journalists for promoting interfaith harmony, tolerance, peace and humanity through their writings, TV shows and blogs.
