PM announces compensation money for Gwadar incident victims

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair on Sunday said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had announced Rs1 million and Rs0.5 million compensation each for the families of the killed and injured people, respectively, who were attacked by gunmen near Gwadar in Balochistan province.  All of the victims belong to village Huzoor Bux located near Naushehro Feroz in Sindh.

“The prime minister has termed the attack a conspiracy to sabotage the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project and vowed to foil it,” the governor said in a statement.  A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against unknown accused over the killing of 10 labourers on behalf of injured labourer Qadir Bakhsh at Gwadar levies station. The case has been registered for murder, attempt to murder and terrorist acts.

Ten workers were shot dead and one injured when the gunmen riding bikes opened fire on them at two separate construction sites, three kilometres away from each other. The gunmen fled after swift operations.  The killed included Ali Dost, Shaaban, Muhammad Khan, Rasool Bux, Abdul Hakeem, Saddam Hussain, Waheed, Zaheer and  Asif. However, another man belonging to same village Huzoor Bux was injured in the attack.
