North Korea has said it will hold talks with the US “if the conditions were right”, South Korean media reports.
A dialogue was possible with the Trump administration, said a senior North Korean official after meeting with an ex-US government official in Oslo, Norway.
In a statement made earlier this month US President Donald Trump said that he would be “honoured” to meet his Korean counterpart, Kim Jong-Un.
Over the past month tensions between North Korea and the US have risen sharply.
Choe Son-hui, an official in the North Korean foreign ministry responsible for North American affairs, told reporters in Beijing that bilateral talks between Pyongyang and Washington would be considered.
Trump had previously commented that a “major, major conflict” with North Korea is possible.
Over the past month, US has stretched its muscles in the Korean peninsula as a warning signature to North Korea’s nuclear ambitions.
