Govt to recruit 80,000 teachers this year

Punjab School Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said that as many as eighty thousand teachers would be recruited this year. He said that the number of primary teaching posts has been increased from two to four in every government school. He added that the female candidates would also be eligible for recruitment in boys’ schools on merit. The Chief Executive Education Officers have been directed to prepare merit lists without any further delay so that the process of recruitment and training of educators could be started as soon as possible.

He said this while presiding over a meeting that was held at Committee Room of Schools Education Department, here today. The Minister said that government is committed to expediting the education promotion at the grassroots level so that a 100 per cent enrollment target could be achieved by 2018. It is hoped, the minister said, that the recruitment of eighty thousand educators would further expedite the process of education promotion, he added.

Meanwhile, while addressing another meeting at the Committee Room of Schools Education Department, here today, Rana Mashhood said that Punjab is a land of various landscapes and has a rich history of art, culture, and traditions.

The attendees of the meeting were told that 2nd Lahore International Conference on Culture would be held in the provincial metropolis from July 27 to July 29. The purpose of the conference was to highlight the rich culture of Punjab at the international level. The minister directed the concerned individuals to ensure foolproof security arrangements at the conference. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Schools Education Department, Tourism Department, PHA, Information and Culture Department as well as office-bearers of an NGO.
