The High Commissioner of Canada Perry Calderwood paid a visit to the Rawal International Expo 2017 organised by Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), on Friday, at Ayub National Park Rawalpindi.
While visiting different stalls, high commissioner Perry Calderwood appreciated the role of RCCI in promoting trade activities through exhibitions. Canadian high commissioner said that his country gave great importance to its bilateral relations with Pakistan, and wanted to further promote trade and economic ties. Exhibitions are the backbone of any country for promoting bilateral trade relations and regional trade, he said. He assured his full cooperation and assistance for promoting trade delegations between the chambers of both countries.
President RCCI Raja Amer Iqbal welcomed the Excellency and gave a short brief on Rawal International Expo 2017. President RCCI said that Rawal EXPO 2017 was aiming to increase business activities in addition to providing entertainment to the masses. He informed that the five day Industrial Exhibition, RAWAL International EXPO 2017 would be continued till May 14. More than 12 international companies from China, Thailand, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nepal and Sri Lanka were displaying their products at the expo. Food court, children playing area and auto show would also be organised to attract and entertain families and children. Cultural evenings were also being held during five day exhibition, he added. City administration, Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC), Citizen Community Board (CCB) and trade organisations had assured full cooperation in this regard, said RCCI President.
Senior Vice President Rashid Waien, Vice President Asim Malik, chairman exhibition committee Malik Shahid Saleem, and vice chairman Khurshid Berlas, members of the executive committee and stall owners were also present on the occasion.
