Efforts were being made, recently, by the concerned parties to make peace between the families of sworn enemies of the Walled City: Khawaja Aqeel, as known as Gogi Butt and Balaj Amer Tipu.
2 months ago, Gogi Butt condoled with Balaj’s family member the demise of Balaj’s close associate which raised hopes for a concord to finally prevail over the gory enmity between the two families. Unfortunately, however, a recent incident of unprovoked firing outside the house of Gogi Butt has reinvigorated the aura of hostility in the region. Any effort to bring the two families to the table has gone in vain. Security outside the homes of both the antagonists has been enhanced.
It is being speculated that the main thorn in arbitration is a local police officer who thrives on the rift between the two families and has created misunderstanding between them. Also, according to sources, Balaj has conveyed to a police officer that he is not willing to make peace with Butt.
Also, after the arrest of Balajm, the surfacing of a substandard report has led the Lahore CCPO to suspend inspector Mukthar.
According to the residents of the Walled City, peace between the two feuding families is now desperately required. They say that due to the enmity no life in the area is safe as any unfortunate incident could result from firing that may erupt anytime.
