KARACHI: Provincial Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that the department had collected Rs 46,767.966 million tax in ten months.
During the last ten months from July 2016 to April 2017, Rs 46,767.966 million tax has been collected under various heads, while Rs 39457.588 million were collected in the same period during last fiscal year, the minister said, adding that it was a big achievement.
The minister was presiding over a meeting to review the performance of the department. Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Secretary Abdul Haleem Shaikh and Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui also attended the meeting.
Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui told the chair that Rs 4989.450 million were collected in motor vehicle tax, Rs 33286.612 million in infrastructure cess, Rs 149 million in cotton fee, Rs 1686.315 million in property tax and Rs 291 million in professional tax and the remaining amount was collected in various other heads.
Mukesh Kumar Chawla, while expressing his satisfaction over tax collections, directed the officers to speed up tax collections and complete the targets at the earliest.
“Timely collection of the taxes plays a vital role in the progress of the province,” he said.
