Main accused in Sargodha killings retracts confession

SARGODHA: Abdul Waheed, who was the main accused of killing disciples at a shrine of Chak No 95 NB has retracted his confessional statement and has said that the disciples killed each other and he had nothing to do with it.

Another accomplice in the case, Tauqeer, appealed to the district and sessions court judge for protection on Monday, saying that he could be killed by Waheed’s disciples. He is reported to be the son-in-law of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shabir.

Some relatives of the deceased have alleged that the police is being pressurised to favour the accused. The case challan would be submitted to the anti-terrorism court by May 15, after getting the DNA sample of the accused.

 On April 2, 20 people were found killed at the Chak 95 NB shrine. Police arrested four people in the case.
