AIOU condoles with Gulzar Ahmed

Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU), on Tuesday, held a condolence function for its employee Gulzar Ahmed who died last week after being stung multiple times by a swarm of bees.

Forty five year old Ahmed, a gardener at the campus university was doing his work when a beehive on a nearby tree fell on the ground and a swarm of bees attacked him and five other gardeners. He left behind a widow and three children.

Addressing at the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Siddiqui said that the University was providing financial support to the family of deceased, besides giving a job to one of the family members.

Paying homage to late Ahmed, he said that he will be remembered because of his dedicated 15-year long services in the University.  His accidental death was a matter of shock for everybody at the campus, he added.

The function was also addressed by President Employees Welfare Association Sajad Janjua who thanked the vice chancellor for extending timely support to Ahmed’s family.

University’s Registrar Dr Muhammad Naeem Qureshi was also present on the occasion.

Special prayers were offered for late Ahmed on the occasion.
