MUZAFFARGARH: A woman who was allegedly burnt by her husband for ‘giving birth to a girl’, eventually succumbed to injuries after fighting for life for 35 days.

She passed away at Nishtar Hospital, Multan on Sunday. According to the first information report, the husband Muhammad Sajid and his father Umar Hayat had set the woman Rashida Parveen and her eight-month-old daughter Eman Fatima on fire.

Both mother and daughter were shifted to the Nishtar Hospital Multan after the woman’s father found them unconscious. He registered a case with the Chowk Sarwar Shaheed Police Station against Sajid and his father Umar. The baby recovered after treatment but Rashida, unfortunately, could not survive.

According to reports, the police are investigating the matter from different angles.
