Punjab’s Chief Minister is paying surprise visit to the wheat procurement centres here and there only to find that all is not well. At these centres, the farmers are not being treated well and are not being facilitated in providing gunny bags and offering their produce and the officials are not performing their duties as he would have desired.
All this is good that the chief minister is going around to personally supervise the ongoing procurement campaign and setting wrong things right here and there.
But it is a matter of regret that though the CM is paying surprise visits to the procurement centres, presence of the ministers, secretaries, MNAs and MPAs anywhere is neither visible nor being reported by the print and electronic media. The chief minister who has a good reputation of being a hard task master should pull up all those who are not performing their assigned duties as a result of which the working at the procurement centres leaves much to be desired and the farmers are reported to be suffering.
