Promulgation of a balanced rent control act in federal capital is a long standing demand of the local traders and amendment bill should immediately present before National Assembly, President Traders Action Committee Islamabad and Markazi Anjuman Tajran Pakistan Ajmal Baloch said this when he was addressing the meeting of local traders at markaz G-9 after inauguration of a super store.

He said that a new rent control act was also promised by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif three years ago during his address to the traders of Islamabad.

Former Senior Vice President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and industry and Secretary Traders Action Committee Khalid Choudhry said at the meeting that a reconciliation committee was proposed in the amended bill which was also recommended by Islamabad capital administration. He said that the bill was again pending with the national assembly committee for approval.

He said that due to the absence of rent law, local traders were feeling insecure. He stated that whenever tenants want, they issue notice to the trader for eviction while traders had established good will for their business after long hard work. He said that shifting of business to new location rendered all their hard work futile.

Khalid Choudhry also stated that 48 traders of I-10 Markaz were facing ejectment. He said that they went to the court against evictions.

He said that in the new amended bill, a committee would resolve issues of rent dispute out of court and no party would end the rent agreement unilaterally while rent defaulter would be provided an opportunity by the court to clear all dues instead of being forcefully evicted.

He said that all political parties promised before the elections for the promulgation of new rent law in Islamabad and it is high time that they should honour their commitment before next elections are announced.

He appealed to Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan to issue orders against the forced eviction of any trader till the promulgation of new rent law in Islamabad.
