KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday directed the Sindh’s Rangers director general, Police inspector general and home secretary to submit their respective comments on a petition seeking whereabouts of an advocate’s son who was allegedly kidnapped on April 22.
The SHC bench, headed by Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, took up the petition filed by Zakir Hussain Khaskheli, the advocate of Supreme Court who moved the court seeking whereabouts of his missing son, Nadir Ali.
The petitioner informed the court that his son was working at their land in Taluka Mirwah, District Khairpur on April 22 when he was kidnapped by some persons who were involved in many heinous crimes. “The kidnappers had demanded Rs 1 million and some part of the land as a ransom to release my son and hurled threats of killing in case of failure to pay the ransom,” the petitioner added.
Khaskheli alleged that his son was kidnapped on the behest of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Khairpur division president and other influential personalities due to a political rivalry.
“The kidnapping case has been lodged but the investigating officer does not bother to interrogate the matter due to the involvement of political personalities. We are very concerned about Nadir’s life as he has been untraceable since his kidnapping day,” Khaskheli lamented.
Citing the Sindh Rangers DG, Sindh IGP, Sukkur DIG, home secretary and SHO Pir Wasam police station as the respondents, the petitioner prayed the court to direct the law enforcers to recover his son at the earliest.
After the initial hearing, the court issued notices to deputy attorney general, advocate general Sindh and respondents to file their comments before the next hearing.
