A meeting to review the performance of District Overseas Pakistanis Committees (DOPCs) was presided over by the Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Shamail Ahmad Khawaja and Punjab Commissioner Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Afzaal Bhatti at the Civil Secretariat today.
Director General OPC Syed Javed Iqbal Bokhari, Additional DG Police Matters Agha Yousaf were also present at this occasion, while the civil and police high-ups of Bahawal Pur, Bahawal Nagar and Rahim Yar Khan districts participated through a video link.
Additional Chief Secretary Shamail Ahmad Khawaja instructed the administration to improve the resolution mechanism of complaints of overseas Pakistanis and to redress their issues expeditiously. He instructed the administration to arrange, at least, two meetings of the DOPCs every month and to upload the proceedings of these meetings on the OPC web complaint portal.
Commissioner OPC Afzaal Bhatti, while addressing the attendees of the meeting, said that the DOPCs of the entire province should cooperate with each other so that the grievances of the overseas Pakistanis could be resolved at the earliest. He said that the overseas Pakistanis are the true ambassadors of the country and that OPC Punjab is pursuing a vigorous policy to help the expatriates by redressing their complaints about government agencies of the Punjab. Certain complaints of Overseas Pakistanis were discussed in detail on this occasion and additional chief secretary and commissioner OPC issued necessary directions in order for them to be resolved.
