Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said on Sunday that Pakistan will lose its freedom if it keeps on taking loans from other countries.

The PTI chairman was addressing a rally in Sialkot. “If Nawaz takes steps against corruption then he would get caught himself,” jibed Imran.

Imran said that he was happy to see the gathering, saying that he was grateful to the people especially women who came to the gathering. “Here (Sialkot) people have political awareness,” he said. “In one direction there is road to greatness, at the other is destruction,” the PTI chairman said.

He said, ‘The loans are taken by a few and the brunt of it is faced by the nation. If taxes are raised then inflation will rise too’, he said, adding, ‘those nations prosper who strengthen its institutions,.

Earlier, the rally was marred by chaos after the arrival of the senior leadership of the party at the venue. A large crowd of people attempted to reach the stage at Jinnah Stadium by putting barbed wires out of the way while another large group of men tore down the walk-through gate.

The party workers also blocked the entry route of leaders at the ground.

Criticising the government for its reluctance against probing corruption in national institutions, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said the premier himself will be caught for corruption if he decides to act against it.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said investigating the myriad corruption cases of the past would divert the government’s focus from development.

“Only a country that ceases and shuns corruption is able to witness development,” Imran said. “I can tell you how this country can prosper again, and that is through strengthening the institutions.” “But how can you strengthen the institutions such as National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as you will be caught for corruption as soon as you do so,” Imran said.

The Pakistani nation, Imran reiterated, was becoming poorer as the rulers become richer. “Change does not come only by cutting ribbons,” Imran said while referring to the premier’s statement that his rivals may indulge in political point-scoring while he continues to inaugurate uplift projects. “A small segment of the society is laundering the hard-earned money of the masses abroad,” he added.
