LAHORE: Jamaat e Islami Secretary General Liaqat Baloch has said that the JI’s foremost priority is to build the religious parties as a strong political and electoral force in the next year’s elections.

He was replying to questions from newsmen during his meeting with the notables in WAPDA Town on Sunday.

The JI secretary general held the US and India responsible for the present tension on the Pak-Afghan border. He said it was imperative that the leadership of Afghanistan and Pakistan stood on the same page and foiled the agenda of the colonial powers.

He termed the formation of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) and the Supreme Court bench to oversee the investigations as a historic decision and said that the advocates of the petitioners, including JI chief Sirajul Haq, should be provided full opportunity to raise questions and pinpoint corruption.

He expressed the hope that the country’s youth would play a decisive role in wiping out corruption and injustice from the country.
