Govt believes in freedom of expression: Marriyum

 

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that the government believes in freedom of expression and it will ensure such right in the country at every level.

Addressing a meeting of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) in Karachi on Sunday, she said that Audit of Circulation (ABC) has been designed focusing the problems of regional newspapers and to strengthen the newspapers of the country.

She said the constructive and positive criticism would be appreciated and media houses should avoid destructive and damaging criticism and should take into national security while reporting.

She said that the government would resolve all problems being faced by the media in consultation with CPNE and other journalists of the country.

She said that film policy was also being designing first ever in Pakistan and the golden age of the industry would be revived. She said that national narrative could be established by implementing effective film and curriculum policy.

To a question, she said that Interior Ministry would issue a notification regarding Dawn leaks and all the responsible would be brought to justice. A detailed revised notification over Dawn leaks probe report would be issued either tomorrow or day after tomorrow, she said.

The Ministry of Interior would issue the revised notification within two days. She said that Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today as well in Islamabad. Ms Aurangzeb said that it would be inappropriate to comment on Dawn leaks.
